Another piece of work I found under my bed!

This is another pencil drawing from my school days, the original is A3 in size, and is based on an illustration from an old history book on pirates, this was for some mutiny. I forget the story but i’m pretty sure someone died, or walked a plank, or lost a parrot, or did something with a piece o’eight…

Now that the blog is set up, I now have a place to put up all the random bits of work that don’t quite warrant a place in my portfolio. I was having a look through some old stuff from my school days, in the days before I knew what an e-mail was, to give some sort of time-frame! This was a nights homework from Art class, a study of facial features taken from a magazine photograph.

Back then I was sketching and painting almost everyday, no chance doing the above now! I am hoping to scan in some more old stuff that’s been sitting around, so keep an eye out for some new posts of the next few days…

Hello!

So, welcome along to the 4th-ish redesign of my website. I’ve gone all web 2.0 mad this time, microformats are out (well until I get around to putting it back in), a blog, twitter and CMS are in. Progress!

This is my first post, and as such it is important to set the tone, I am hoping this blog will be a little random with a twist of cool design stuff, while being a space for my personal projects, ideas, opinions, and interests.

I’ve been wanting to do something with my site for ages but I never had the time, that was until I broke my knee in June, while out in Australia. With my time management issues sorted, I began making some changes. I’ve tried to keep the design simple, minimal even, moving away from dark colours, I wanted 2 strong statement colours, with several shades of grey giving a muted feel. I decided to get into Wordpress, which I’ve used as a CMS, and I couldn’t be happier with it, especially with all the great plug-ins.

Right, that was pretty painless, first post in the bag. However some small areas of the site do need some sorting out over the next little while. Oh and I’m sorry for any IE6 hiccups, I’m in the process of removing everything that’s too hard for Internet Explorer to understand.

That said, please give me a shout if anything is properly buggered!
